There's some good news if you are a fan of Mexican food and live in the Nagoya area. A new Mexican restaurant has opened in Moriyama-ku, just up the road from Motoyama.
Tacos Bar is operated by the same team as the popular Las Delicias in Kamimaezu.

Large portions (try the Mega Tacos) and doing a thiving trade in take outs, Tacos Bar has seating for around 20 people and is an informal, friendly cantina-style Mexican eatery. Lunch sets are as little as 500 yen. Favorites include Tacos de Picadillo (spicy beef) and Quesadilla. Vegetarian options available.

There's a well stocked bar with Mexican beers and tequila and events every second and fourth Sundays. Vamos amigos!

Tacos Bar is situated at the Shiroshita crossroads, a 10 minute walk from Obata Station Exit 2 on the Meitetsu Seto Line or take bus #11 from Chayagasaka Station on the Meijo Subway Line. The restaurant is on the south-east corner of the Shiroshita intersection.

Turn left at the Obatamiya-mae intersection on Seto Kaido, then 400m towards Chiyoda-bashi.
Not far from Kinjo Gakuin Women's University. If coming by car turn north off Dekimachi Dori and drive past the Apita store on your right.

Feel like something you can really sink your teeth into, that tastes good, is served generously, and is cheap? Rakeru in West Shinjuku (Nishi Shinjuku) is an omurice (i.e. “omelette rice”) restaurant that serves what is pretty close to typical hearty American home fare: roasts, steaks, vegetables, salads, and desserts. And, of course, the ubiquitous rice-filled omelette.

As well as serving tasty food – and pretty promptly - Rakeru is Alice-in-Wonderland-themed. The crockery has (often mis-spelled) quotations from Alice in Wonderland, and the friendly waitresses (no waiters in sight) are all dressed in red check frilly pinafores.

Rakeru is only a few paces from Shinjuku Post Office.

Takadanobaba is two stops from Shinjuku on the JR Yamanote line, and is probably best known for all its Waseda university students.



Being mainly a student town, it offers numerous places to eat - most of them reasonably priced and good tasting.

Malabar Indian Restaurant is in Tokyo's Takadanobaba district, only 3 minutes walk east out of Takadanobaba Station.

The restaurant is a well-established presence in Takanobaba, having been doing business for over two decades, since 1986.




The Indian and Nepalese staff provide prompt and friendly service. The restaurant itself is spacious for Tokyo: a split-level arrangement seating about 25.

Best of all is the food: consistently good, with subtley flavored curries, salads that taste all right
(a bit of a rarity at Indian restaurants), soft, full nan - never brittle or burnt - and servings on the generous side.

Unless you're not into sweet, the kabli nan is especially recommended: nan with almost dessert-flavored, mainly coconut, filling.

For two people for dinner, a hearty feed and a jug or two of beer will come to around 4,500 yen total.
