69.2% of PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) bottles were recycled in Japan in 2007 - a record number up 2.9% on 2006. 396,529 tons of recyclable PET bottles were collected. 573,198 tons of PET bottles were sold in the 12 month period, up 5.4% from the previous year.
